There are a couple of generalizations you can make about residents of the Santa Clarita Valley. One is that many individuals who grow up in the community find a lot of good reasons to stay. And another is that local pet owners want their animals to have the best care.
Both are true of Nirip Shokar, DVM, a longtime Santa Clarita resident who opened Pinnacle Veterinary Center this fall at the corner of Bouquet Canyon Road and Valencia Blvd.
“We chose this location for our hospital because of its central location within the Santa Clarita Valley,” he said, “as well as its exceptional exposure to the street, which makes it easy for people to find us in an emergency situation!”
Dr. Shokar’s focus and interest is in three different surgical fields: emergency surgery, orthopedic surgery and soft tissue surgery.
He has expertise in everything from knee surgeries to stomach torsions, and from spaying and neutering to cesarean sections.
“Over the last decade I have performed thousands upon thousands of procedures, as I have regularly worked six-plus days a week for years on end,” he said. “The more you practice medicine and surgery, the more experience you have and the better you get.”
Dr. Shokar treats all kinds of animals, including dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, hamsters, guinea pigs, hedgehogs, chinchillas and many more small animals. As far as larger animals are concerned, he treats goats and pigs as well.
The most unusual animal he’s ever treated? A hedgehog named “Hashbrown,” Dr. Shokar said.
In its mission, Pinnacle Veterinary Center affirms the idea that all pets should be given the opportunity to live long, healthy and happy lives.
The website says: “We believe that a complex relationship exists between veterinary professionals, pet owners and the fur babies themselves! The health of our puppies and kitties literally rests on the quality of this three-way relationship. We understand that the first step to earning the trust of pet parents is to provide a simple, convenient healthcare experience based on excellent customer service. To this end, we will seek to build veterinary healthcare facilities which reflect our core values of innovation, effectiveness, compassion, and integrity.”
