If you’re a supporter of the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life, then you know it’s a spring fundraiser bringing hope to cancer victims. But you don’t have to wait until May 2, 2020 to partner with others raising money for the cause.
Dog lovers can participate in Santa Clarita’s 8th annual Bark For Life on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at the Westfield Valencia Town Center Mall. Admission is free for humans. To register your dog it costs $15 for one or $25 for two dogs.
“This year will be my first experience with Bark For Life – a fun, noncompetitive walking event for dogs and their owners to celebrate the joy, companionship and comfort of our canine companions,” said Carol Calkins of Canyon Country, an ACS volunteer. “If there is anything I can do to help fund research to find a cure for this awful disease, or help those who are trying to survive it, I will.”
This family-friendly event celebrates the joys of canine companionship while raising funds to fight cancer. There will be vendors, music, photos, games, raffles, and a free goodie bag for each registered dog.
Bark For Life is a noncompetitive walk event for dogs and their owners to raise funds and awareness. The celebration runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The nationwide event benefits the American Cancer Society and acts as a fall kick-off event for the spring Relay For Life fundraiser.
One of the unique aspects of this canine-focused event is that it highlights the healing role that dogs serve as companions who relieve stress and elevate mood. All funds raised support research, services and education provided by ACS. The day will be filled with music, vendors, photos, games and raffles. It’s an opportunity to celebrate canine companionship, honor cancer survivors and support the American Cancer Society.
Bark For Life begins at the Westfield Valencia Town Center Mall in the lower parking area at the corner of Valencia Blvd. and Citrus St. To register, or for more information, visit SCVBark.org.
