While most Americans are sitting at tables eating typical Thanksgiving fare later this month, The Gentle Barn will be celebrating the life of turkeys and enjoying a field-to-table menu.
This year marks the 20th year of A Gentle Thanksgiving, an event where animals are the main attraction, not the main course. Tickets are available for you to join Jay and Ellie Laks-Weiner, their family and volunteers at the event, which is held on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 2019 from 3 p.m.-7 p.m.
Guests will not only partake of a gourmet vegan meal themselves, they will give turkeys their dinner and take part in a Native American drum circle.
“For me, connecting with fellow animal lovers, celebrating life and love, and feasting gently, is the highlight of the year!” said Ellie Laks-Weiner, founder of The Gentle Barn. “I can’t wait to cuddle turkeys with our guests!”
“We’ve been going to A Gentle Thanksgiving for about six years and absolutely love it!” said Val Smith of Santa Clarita. “Sometimes the holidays can be hard for orphans like us. … Family is either too far away or non-existent. The Gentle Thanksgiving event is a gathering of good people with good food and supports a great cause. It’s also a great way to spend time with the animals and experience The Gentle Barn outside of an open Sunday.”
Given the Gold Star rating by Guide Star and a 4-star Charity Navigator score, The Gentle Barn continues to forge new trails. They are established in Nashville, Tenn. and St. Louis, Mo. in addition to The Gentle Barn at 15825 Sierra Highway in Santa Clarita. For more information, call 661-252-2440 or visit GentleBarn.org.
