This year, animals will reap the benefits from the 7th Annual SCV Charity Chili Cook-off in Valencia.
Chili is cooked up by 40 entrants who compete for the title of first, second and third prize, plus the People’s Choice Award and Judge’s Choice honors. The event will benefit two local shelters that are saving the lives of animals – Shelter Hope Pet Shop and St. Bonnie’s Sanctuary/Lange Foundation.
“Our goal has no cap and we are benefiting two charities this year, so we need twice the donation power to help both amazing causes with their continued success,” said Charity Chili Cook-Off co-chair Steve Portaro.
Contestants will bring their best chili recipes to The Oaks Club at Valencia (formerly TPC) on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. The event will feature a live band, DJ and dancing, along with a live and silent auction and a kids’ corner. The spotlight is on chili cooks who present their prized recipes in hopes of a big win following taste testing by local celebrity judges.
The Santa Clarita community is encouraged once again to support the non-profits while having a great time. Sponsors are needed and donations are welcome.
Sponsorship levels range from $500 to $10,000. Prizes and donations for the silent auction are already coming in, according to co-chair Nicole Stinson. The public has shown a tremendous amount of support for the cause of rescuing animals in the community.
“We are so proud and excited to be able to help this cause and can’t wait to get the ball rolling and the planning underway,” Stinson said.
Event organizers are already signing up chili cooks and contestants to enter their secret recipes, serve it up to event attendees, and try for the 2019 trophy for the best chili. You can already get your registration forms in and space is limited. There is a $125 fee to enter. Awards will be given in two categories: People’s Choice and Judge’s Choice. There will also be an additional trophy for the Best Decorated Booth.
