There’s Comic-Con, Cookie Con and Gen Con, but August 4-5, 2018, Pasadena is host to “a convention with cattitude”: CatCon.

If you can’t get enough of cat culture, you can be surrounded by thousands of cat lovers gathering for conversation, while vendors bring you merchandise options – plus cat rescue opportunities in the CatCon Adoption Village. Held at the Pasadena Convention Center, it’s the largest feline-centered event in the world, according to

There are seminars over the two-day event, including “Men and Cats: A Love Story” and “The Furr-ocious Fashion Face Off,” and there are meet-and-greets with feline and human celebrities. More than 150 booths will carry cat-centric items, and workshops will introduce DIY projects and health/wellness tips.

The mission of CatCon is “to spread joy and goodness to cats and the people who love them.” There are moral goals associated with the event, including an attempt to alter the negative stereotype of the “crazy cat lady.” Adopting, not shopping, is a priority, fighting the tendency for unwanted pets to be euthanized because of a lack of options. Cat welfare charities will benefit from the convention proceeds, as well.

The parent company of CatCon and Cat Art Show is Ticket Out, Inc., which has donated more than $130,000 to FixNation, Lil BUB’s Big Fund, Kitten Rescue and the Ian Somerhalder Foundation, which empowers, educates and collaborates with people to impact the planet and its creatures. In fact, $2 of every ticket to CatCon will go to the foundation. Ticket Out, Inc. has helped over 300 cats find forever homes through Best Friends, spcaLA and Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA.

Some of the convention sponsors are ASPCA, CatGenie, Halo pet food, Litter Genie, Modern Cat Magazine, 9 Lives Cat Food, VIP Pet Care, World’s Best Cat Litter, and The Westin Pasadena.

Hours for the convention are: Saturday, August 4 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday, August 5 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. The Pasadena Convention Center is located at 300 E. Green Street in Pasadena.

General admission tickets are $35 for adults and $15 for children ages 5-12. Kids under 5 are free. There are separate tickets for purchase for Meet and Greets. For more information, visit
